Verdict due on request for later bar hours

Consider recent gun violence

It certainly seems counterproductive for the Liquor Control Board to be thinking about allowing bars and nightclubs to sell liquor after 2 a.m. [“Verdict due on request for later bar hours,” page one, May 30.]

People who have consumed more alcohol are more likely to resort to violence for very little cause, and with all the gun violence in Seattle lately, I certainly hope the board turns down the request.

What is really needed is for the public to rise up and demand a repeal of liberal gun laws!

Roll the dice, Seattle

What might be the ultimate goal of pursuing extended or 24-hour bars in Seattle?

I believe it could be the building of a massive Las Vegas-style hotel on the new and improved Seattle waterfront. Tourists love them. Seattle is already surrounded by large tribal casinos. Nearly all of the 40 or more cruise ships that visit Seattle each year have a casino on board.

Loosen up Seattle and roll the dice.

— Norman Colbert, Seattle
