Increasing higher-education graduates

It’s not up to the government

As President Barack Obama promised Americans to increase the number of college graduates exponentially, in order to produce more college graduates than any country on Earth, I want to remind Seattle Times subscribers that in 1985 The Soviet Union had produced two and half more college graduates than the U.S. Six years later, the USSR disintegrated.

It’s better to let “invisible hands” decide how many college graduates a country needs.

When government wants to regulate anything, whether it’s a size of soft drinks, alcohol consumption or number of births — it always fails miserably, without exception.
