Boeing board should address 787 problem

Executives should face consequences

Nell Minow, of GMI Ratings, hit the nail on the head when she said, “Boeing has poor corporate governance, most notably a board that repeatedly approves an executive-compensation plan that fails to impose meaningful consequences for failure to perform” [“Another 787 mystery: Where’s Boeing Board?,” Business, Feb. 3].

In my opinion, if there were consequences, such as substantial penalties to executives’ pay and bonuses, maybe programs such as the 787 would be on time, cost-effective, with greater control of manufacturing errors.

Will performance penalties be implemented on Boeing executives? I say, probably not; and that’s a shame.
