Woman's body found during count of Seattle's homeless

Seattle needs to support homeless community

It is a terrible transgression on the community consciousness of Seattle to have allowed Kathryn Ann Blair to freeze to death, alone and unknown on an offramp [“Woman’s body found near road,” Around the Northwest, Jan. 26].

It speaks volumes about an uncaring, failed leadership approach to the problems of homelessness. The amount of wealth flowing on the streets of Seattle and its misguided use is an even greater blight on the beatitude, “Love thy neighbor” — more so if that neighbor is mentally ill.

We must think about this the next time we go to our many temples or come home to our multi-hundred-thousand-dollar homes. It is easier to blame someone else for their ills than it is to blame the community of leaders for what they do or do not do about the conditions of the unfortunate and their tragic consequences.
