Wow. This is a painting more than a photograph. Just so much pleasant interplay of... MORE

Photographer: Dale Johnson, Seattle

Photo taken: Oct. 5, Elliott Bay

Photographer's description: "During an afternoon sail, this large tanker was at anchor and made for a great foreground in the late afternoon light. Camera: Nikon D800E, Nikon 24-70 f2.8 lens at 66mm, 1/200 sec, f7.1, ISO 100."

Expert says: "I am in love with this photo. I love everything from the gorgeous light that hits Mount Rainier and the tanker just right to the wispy clouds that give a soft affect to the otherwise solid elements. I love that the little dinosaur cranes poke up but don’t distract you from the mountain that peeks out behind the giant tanker. They also connect you back to this vessel by bringing in that rusty red color. This photo beautifully documents why Seattle is such an amazing city."
