Photographer's description: “The photo was taken outside of Redmond High School, where I am a photography teacher. The bees were buzzing in the lavender and students were outside taking nature photos with different lenses. I was demonstrating the inexpensive macro filter we have (small budget) and managed to catch a fuzzy bee! I used a Canon Rebel T3 with an 18-55mm kit lens and a Bower macro filter. Indirect light and complementary colors turned out well!”

Expert says: “Wonderful use of the macro filter — being able to see the bee’s eye and little hairs, especially those orange hairs, is really great, as well as more detail in the flower than what we usually see with the naked eye. I love the purple-pink color of the flower that is blurred in the background, balancing the frame with the foreground flower. Thank you for teaching the next generation of photographers, Ms. Swain.”
