James Donaldson is in for mayor's race
Posted by Emily Heffter
Seattle mayoral candidate and former Seattle Sonic and James Donaldson put to rest any rumors that he may drop out of the mayor's race to make a run for Seattle City Council instead.
The King County filing deadline is Friday, as it is around the state, so candidates have until then to decide for certain whether their running and for what position.
Donaldson said it's "absolutely not" true to say that he's thinking of leaving the eight-way race for mayor.
He's had a rough month. He lost his campaign consultant, Blair Butterworth, to Seattle City Councilmember Jan Drago's campaign. And he said his fundraising is only "slightly" better. Donaldson was almost $4,000 in the red at the end of last month.
But support and enthusiasm are up, Donaldson said, so he's planning to run. Donaldson, a political newbie, first filed to run for Seattle City Council, but switched to the mayor's race in March.)
