Executive candidates Dow Constantine and Susan Hutchison will debate
Posted by Keith Ervin
King County executive candidates Dow Constantine and Susan Hutchison have agreed to debate each other on KCTS-TV Oct. 15 in what could be the first of three televised face-offs.
The debate will be broadcast live on Channel 9 at 7 p.m. in front of a studio audience.
Hutchison, a former TV news anchor who now runs the Charles Simonyi Fund for Arts and Sciences, and Constantine, chair of the Metropolitan King County Council, received the most votes of eight candidates in the Aug. 18 vote-by-mail primary.
Hutchison's margin of victory has slipped since election night, from 37 percent to 33 percent, while Constantine's share has risen from 22 percent to 27 percent as later ballots were counted.
Constantine today announced endorsements from U.S. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell and Reps. Norm Dicks, Jay Inslee, Jim McDermott and Adam Smith. Hutchison last week said she has been endorsed by former U.S. Rep. and Iraq Study Group Co-chair Lee Hamilton.
