Obama's Seattle visit: health-care out, economy in

Posted by Jim Brunner

President Obama has changed plans for a scheduled visit to Seattle Tuesday.

The White House earlier said Obama would talk about implementation of the new federal health-care law at downtown Seattle meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

The president has canceled that appearance, the White House said in a news release.

Instead, while in Seattle Obama will "talk about strengthening the economy and creating jobs for the families and businesses of Washington State," the White House said. More details on that event will be released later.

While in town, Obama also will headline campaign fundraisers for Democratic U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, who faces a difficult fight to be reelected to a fourth term.
