OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Lauren Cheney's two assists helped FC Kansas City to a 2-0 win over Reign FC on Friday night, which gave FCKC (1-0-1) its first National Women's Soccer League victory and kept Seattle (0-2-1) winless.

Sinead Farrelly scored in the 21st minute off a corner kick from Cheney, a midfielder on the U.S. national team. Cheney helped supply the second goal in the 71st minute with a through ball to Renae Cuellar, who beat Reign FC goalkeeper Michelle Betos and helped secure the win in front of 4,064 on a rainy night.

"I personally think Kansas City is the best team in the league," Seattle coach Laura Harvey told The Kansas City Star. "Lauren Cheney is a great player, and she proved that tonight."

Seattle is still without star players Hope Solo (injury), Megan Rapinoe (playing in France) and Amy Rodriguez (starting a family).

From league reports.
