Things figure to be fairly busy around Seahawks headquarters in Kirkland this week as the team gets set to welcome a group of draft prospects for interviews and physicals.
The Seahawks also expect to have free-agent cornerback Ty Law in for a visit. Law, 32, has won Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and was a Pro Bowl selection as a New York Jet last season.
The 11-year veteran tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with 10 in 2005. The Jets released Law in February as a cost-cutting move.
Law has won three Super Bowls and has been selected to the Pro Bowl five times. He is drawing interest from several teams.
Law might be the second left cornerback the Seahawks seek to complement right corner Marcus Trufant. Kelly Herndon will see plenty of action, if not as the starter at left corner, then as a third cornerback in passing situations.
Former Seahawks cornerback Andre Dyson signed with the Jets last month to be Law's replacement. Part of Law's visit to the Seahawks will include a physical.
As for the draft prospects, the Seahawks do not release information on which players will visit. But as many as 30 are allowed, plus a separate visitation day for players with local ties.
The players from around the country go through interviews, though many already interviewed with the Seahawks in February at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. They also are given physicals for a second time.
The local players are allowed to work out on their day, unlike the national players, who are in town for a two-day visit.
• If Law isn't the answer, the Seahawks might consider former San Diego CB Jamar Fletcher, who has free-agent visits to some teams planned after canceling a trip to Washington. Fletcher has also played for the Miami Dolphins.
• The Seahawks still are engaged in contract talks with their final two remaining free agents, S John Howell and P Tom Rouen.
• The team's offseason workout and conditioning program began Monday. Players are strongly encouraged but not required to participate.
