Highlights of T.J. Houshmandzadeh chat

Seahawks wide receiver says he's optimistic about next season. "There's a lot of parity in the NFL," he says.

Highlights of a live chat Thursday with Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Question: Houushhh, what do you think of your new QB Matt Hasselbeck so far?

Houshmandzadeh: I mean everything is good. I wish we could have won more games, so it can't be too good when we're not winning the games we thought we would win.

Q: Sorry to hear about your friend Chris Henry's passing. He is in my prayers.

Houshmandzadeh: I really feel sorry for him and his family. It's affected me a lot more than I thought it would. My thoughts are with his family.

Q: What was it like playing for Dennis Erickson at Oregon State, and what did you learn from him?

Houshmandzadeh: Loved it. It was cool. He taught me a lot about football, period.

Q: What are the top three things you guys as a team will need to focus on to improve?

Houshmandzadeh: Scoring points. Moving the ball. Scoring points. Three things.

Q: Do you feel your presence helps open up things for a guy like John Carlson?

Houshmandzadeh: My presence hasn't opened up anything. We can't move the ball. The first game was the only exception, where they focused on me a little bit and Carlson was able to get open. Outside of that, my presence was short-lived.

Q: What does T.J. stand for?

Houshmandzadeh: Touraj.

Q: What's the newest song on your iPod?

Houshmandzadeh: Probably Snoop or Nipsy Hustle.

Q: Do you think the Seahawks can make the playoffs next year?

Houshmandzadeh: We better.

Q: Do the coaches give you grief for expressing yourself so openly? I love it.

Houshmandzadeh: I don't know if they give me grief, but I don't think they like it. They're not used to that. I play with emotion, man. That's me.

Q: What is your favorite type route?

Houshmandzadeh: Any route where it's going to get me the ball.

Q: Do you like it when the Seattle fans scream "Hooooooshhhh" at Qwest when you make a catch?

Houshmandzadeh: It's cool, man. When they appreciate what you do, that's not bad.

Q: What's one thing you can say to us season-ticket holders to keep us fired up?

Houshmandzadeh: Oh, you've got to be optimistic. There's a lot of parity in the NFL. You can be out of it one year, and the next year can be your year. That's how you have to look at it.

Q: What you think of Jake Locker?

Houshmandzadeh: I think Jake Locker should enter the NFL draft. I know he might not be ready for NFL defenses, but you go to college to get the skills to get a nice paying job. He's going to get a great job that's going to pay great. He can better himself as a player, but I don't think he can better his draft status.

Q: Has anyone ever tackled you by yanking on your braid?

Houshmandzadeh: In college once, but in the NFL, no. If you're thinking about tackling me by my hair, something is wrong.

Q: You think you'll ever cut your hair?

Houshmandzadeh: No. My head's too big.
