Players of the game
• Seahawks defensive tackle Red Bryant had three tackles and half a sack, and he became the first player in franchise history to block two field-goal attempts in a game. He was also ejected in the fourth quarter.
• Browns kicker Phil Dawson made two field goals, from 52 and 53 yards, to make him Man of the Match in a football game with futbol-like scoring.
Play of the game
Leon Washington returned a punt 81 yards for what appeared to be the go-ahead touchdown midway through the third quarter, only to have it called back because of a block-in-the-back penalty against Kennard Cox. Cleveland's Kevin Dockery appeared to embellish the impact, drawing the flag that nullified what would have been Washington's first touchdown of the season. Seattle quarterback Charlie Whitehurst was intercepted on the next play.
The Browns faced third-and-11 on their 48 with a 6-3 lead midway through the fourth quarter. The Seahawks blitzed both Kam Chancellor and Cox. Cleveland quarterback Colt McCoy juked past Cox and ran for 12 yards, diving for a first down and extending the drive. Of Cleveland's three third-down conversions on the drive, McCoy's scramble was the most damaging as the Browns consumed 5:59 of the clock.
