Three questions

Has anyone in Seattle ever teased you about having gone to Oregon? “One of my neighbors, when I first moved in, he came over and welcomed me to the neighborhood and he gave me a little gift and it was a UW sweater, some UW paper plates and knives and stuff like that and then he walked off and said, ‘Husky Nation.’ He’s a great guy, though.’’

What happened

The Seahawks put on full pads for the first time since the end of last season. Said Russell Wilson about finally wearing pads, “It feels like you’re playing a game almost. The way we practice is so fast, it does feel like a game.”

The big story

No doubt about it, the news of the day centered on Percy Harvin. Harvin tweeted on Tuesday evening that his hip will require surgery. Various reports said he should be back in three or four months. Harvin will have surgery on Thursday.

Play of the day

DT Jordan Hill, Seattle’s third-round draft pick this year, bulled his way forward at the line, then jumped and batted down a Brady Quinn pass. The most impressive part? Hill dove and nearly came up with an interception off his own deflection.

Injury report

The big news on the injury front dealt with WR Sidney Rice, who was in Switzerland to have a procedure done on his knee. Carroll said it wasn’t surgery and that Rice should be back later this week. He isn’t expected to miss any time. DL Michael Bennett also missed practice because his wife gave birth. DE Cliff Avril, OL Michael Bowie and CB Ron Parker all didn’t practice with hamstring injuries.

Attendance 2,575

The Seahawks will practice again at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. The practice is open to the public but the spots are sold out.
