Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette is among three NFL players named about a “suspicious incident’’ that occurred April 1 at a Miami luxury apartment. Also named were San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick and 49ers receiver Quinton Patton.
The story was first reported by TMZ.
According to the police report, a woman said the incident ended with her at a hospital unaware how she got there following a night of drinking and possible marijuana use. The incident occurred at a Miami hotel apartment stated in the report as belonging to Lockette. A Miami Herald story says county records show the apartment is owned by Jose Sabioni de Lima, who could not be reached Thursday for comment.
The report does not state any specific allegations or crimes.
A statement from the Seahawks on Thursday afternoon said the team was “aware of the situation’’ and “monitoring it closely’’ but would have no further comment.
According to the report, the woman, whose name is redacted, says she visited Lockette at his apartment, which is located in the Viceroy in downtown Miami, which includes suites, residences and guest rooms, and that Kaepernick and Patton were also there.
The report says the woman “made some drinks for all of them and gave them shots.’’ It also states that she was told in order to drink the shots she had to “hit’’ a bong that contained marijuana.
The report says that while watching a basketball game, she felt lightheaded and went to a bedroom to lie down. She was joined by Kaepernick, with whom the report says she has had a previous sexual relationship. The report states that they kissed and that she “got completely naked’’ but that Kaepernick left and that they did not have sex.
Later, the report states, Lockette and Patton opened the door to the room and “peeked’’ inside. The report says the woman asked where Kaepernick was and told the others to close the door. The report states, “They closed the door and left. She cannot remember anything after that.’’
The report states the woman woke up in a hospital bed but doesn’t remember how she got there or who transported her.
The report concludes “the investigation continues ...’’
Lockette joined the Seahawks in 2011 as an undrafted free agent and played in two games for the Seahawks that season. He was released early in the 2012 season and signed by the 49ers, with whom he spent the rest of the season, though without playing in any games. Lockette and Kaepernick were roommates during Lockette’s time with the 49ers and have been training together this offseason in Miami.
Lockette was released by the 49ers last August, and after a brief stint with the Bears, was signed by the Seahawks on Oct. 22. He played in eight regular-season games for Seattle in 2013 and in all three playoff games.
Lockette is signed through the 2014 season and is due to become a restricted free agent in 2015.
