Meet a Seahawk
Position: defensive tackle
Height, weight: 6-3, 276.
College: East Carolina.
• You played in one game last year against Atlanta. What do you remember about that? “My first tackle (against running back Steven Jackson). That was pretty exciting. I waited a long time to do that. So I’m just trying to get on the 53-man roster this year and keep going.’’
• What do you remember about that play? “I just shedded a block and came down and he was coming to the hole and I met him at the line of scrimmage. It was pretty cool.’’
• What was the best part of being a Super Bowl champ in the offseason? “The coolest thing I did was coming to the parade that we had. Just riding through Seattle seeing all the 12s everywhere. That was a great experience.’’
Running back Marshawn Lynch participated in some 11-on-11 drills for the first time since ending his holdout last week.
Play of the day
Cornerback Tharold Simon dove and broke up a pass just in front of the end zone. What made the play more interesting, though, is that Simon had just had his foot looked at by trainers a few minutes before. He didn’t show any effects of the injury the rest of practice.
Offensive lineman James Carpenter returned to practice after missing the last week because of a calf injury. Carpenter spent the offseason losing weight, and he is slotted to start at left tackle for the Seahawks. Defensive tackles Jordan Hill and Tony McDaniel didn’t practice (coach Pete Carroll didn’t talk to the media, so no reason was given).
The Seahawks will have a walkthrough on Wednesday in preparation for Thursday’s preseason game at Denver.
