Nate Burleson suffers high-ankle sprain

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Wide receiver Nate Burleson is in a plastic protective boot after suffering what he confirmed during his weekly radio show on KJR (950 AM) was a high ankle sprain.

Burleson suffered the injury during a punt return in the second half of Sunday's game when he said an opponent's helmet directly struck his ankle. Burleson went to the sideline and had his ankle taped up and returned to the game. After catching a pass on the sideline, he was limping noticeably. He went to the bench and did not return.

Burleson said X-rays showed no fracture, but he said it was a high ankle sprain during his weekly show on Tuesday with KJR's Dave Mahler. He said it's possible that he won't play again this season, but expressed hope he can come back because of his high pain tolerance.

A high ankle sprain typically takes four to six weeks to heal, but cornerback Josh Wilson returned from such an injury after missing just two games earlier this season.
