Report: Seahawks on the verge of re-signing punter Jon Ryan

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Punter Jon Ryan is getting close to finalizing an arrangement on a six-year contract, according to the Regina Leader-Post. The paper reports it's a six-year deal totaling $9.1 million with a $1.6 million signing bonus.

Ryan ranked eighth in the league in punting average, and he was one of five Seahawks whose free-agency status had the potential to be affected by changes in the collective-bargaining agreement. Doesn't look like there will be much worry about that now.

Note: To answer Willmore2000's question, yes, the beat writer should have already posted it, and he would have had he seen it. But I'm the first to admit that in the era of New Media, readers can be reporters, too, and the best way to make sure a link gets passed around is to send it in. I'll even send you an official reporter's notebook.
