Report: Carroll has agreed in principle to be Seahawks coach

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Well, ESPN's Saturday morning update isn't the first report of Pete Carroll agreeing to become the Seahawks next head coach.

It is, however, the first report that comes at a point when it's possible the Seahawks have complied with the league's requirement that a minority candidate be interview for a vacant head-coaching position.

Update: We're now going to get into a duel over semantics because indications from the Seahawks are that nothing has been agreed to, and the sides are scheduled to talk in the next day or two. Nailing down whether -- and exactly when -- a deal is done at this point is probably not as important as the fact that Seattle has interviewed another head-coaching candidate, leaving the road clear for Carroll to eventually become Seattle's head coach.
