Report: Seahawks hire Art Valero as assistant offensive line coach

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Update, 6:36 p.m.: Now, there is a second report of the hiring of Art Valero by Seattle, this from St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Jim Thomas.

  • Asst. O-line coach joins Pete Carroll's staff
By Jim Thomas, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Thomas reported the Rams offered Valero a three one-year extension. (Note: This was erroneously first cited as a three-year extension. The Post-Dispatch report states a one-year extension was offered.)

Update: The original report that Art Valero had been added to Pete Carroll's staff in Seattle needs to be amended and revised.

It's not clear that the Twitter account the report came from -- stlramscom -- is affiliated with the Rams.

Update at 6:50 p.m.: Turns out the account is not. The Rams' official Twitter feed is OneRamsWay. So what does that all mean? Well, a Twitter site that follows the Rams -- but is otherwise not affiliated with the team -- reported what the St. Louis Post-Dispatch also reported: Valero is heading to the Seattle Seahawks.

There you go, reporting in the age of New Media means separating the wheat from the chaff of unofficial -- but ultimately accurate -- Tweets.
