Seahawks announce Ruston Webster's departure
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Ruston Webster, Seattle's vice president of player personnel the previous four years, has left the Seahawks to accept a similar position with the Tennessee Titans.
Webster came to Seattle in 2006, hired by former president Tim Ruskell. When Ruskell stepped down in December, Webster was appointed the interim general manager. He was a candidate for the full-time position, but Seattle hired John Schneider to fill that position.
Webster remained under contract with the Seahawks, but opted for a fresh start in Tennessee under Mike Reinfeldt, whom Webster worked with for one year in Seattle. Webster was a finalist for the Titans general manager position in 2007.
The Seahawks' announcement of Webster's departure included a statement from Schneider, who thanked Webster and his family on behalf of the Seahawks.
"They are a great family and will be missed by the Seattle community," Schneider said in the statement. "I personally want to thank Ruston for all of the hard work prior to the 2010 draft, as well as previous drafts with Tim Ruskell. Not only are the Titans getting an excellent football person, they are getting an even more impressive individual."
