Charlie Whitehurst, Earl Thomas with a rousing offseason finale

• Charlie Whitehurst threw a high-arcing, perfectly placed deep ball that resulted in a few gasps but ultimately an incompletion after it glanced off the hands of Isaiah Stanback.
Not too worry, though. Whitehurst threw an equally good looking ball to Kole Heckendorf for a touchdown.
This final day of offseason work was as impressive as Whitehurst as I've seen him during the offseason workouts. He made a nice throw on the run that Deon Butler grabbed during seven-on-seven drills.
• But the biggest impression was made by one of the shortest players as Earl Thomas demonstrated a combination of range and ball skills with a diving interception of a pass from Matt Hasselbeck intended for Butler.
But it wasn't Thomas' hands that were most impressive, but the speed that put him in position to make the play because Hasselbeck wasn't giving anything away in terms of his intentions.
"I wasn't looking at Deon Butler," Hasselbeck said. "I was looking way left at John Carlson, trying to get Earl to move."
Quarterbacks call it, "looking off the safety," and sure enough, Thomas moved, just not in the direction Hasselbeck expected.
"He was going full speed right when I came back to the right side," Hasselbeck said, "I'd like to see the play on film because he's supposed to be in the middle of the field to my knowledge. But he's got great speed. He shouldn't be able to get there. He got there and made a heck of a diving catch."
That's the kind of range and playmaking that prompted Seattle to choose him with the 14th pick. Jordan Babineaux was absent at this last minicamp, leaving Lawyer Milloy playing opposite Thomas with the first-unit defense. Kevin Ellison, the safety Seattle acquired from waivers Tuesday, was at practice, but not participating.
As a rookie, Thomas has a lot to learn, but he's certainly shown he's got the goods when it comes to raw materials.
