Carroll on Okung's deal: "It's pretty clear how this should go."

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Russell Okung remains unsigned and absent from the Seahawks training camp. What's the hold-up? Pete Carroll was asked that Sunday.

After all, the deals for players drafted around Okung are are negotiated. Have the sides hit an impasse or roadblock in negotiations?

"I mean it's pretty clear," Carroll said. "All of the work has been done in the staging of the position that we're in. It's pretty clear how this should go. And we're absolutely ready to get it done right away. They got to pick up the phone and respond and make sure that we get a chance to get our work done."

At what point does Russell's absence become a concern?

"I think it's a concern for him every day," Carroll said. "The stuff that a rookie misses in these days is immeasurably marked against them. Russell like Earl wants to be out here, but this is really hard on him. We keep moving and working at it. We're not worrying about that part of it on our end of it, but I feel bad for Russell right now."
