Another starting O-line combination coming Sunday

Posted by Joshua Mayers

Expect a new-look offensive line for the Seahawks on Sunday against Atlanta -- the team's ninth different combination of the season. With the return of Chester Pitts from an ankle injury, coach Pete Carroll said he expects the ninth-year veteran to start at left guard, with Mike Gibson moving to right guard, replacing Stacy Andrews.

LT Russell Okung, RT Sean Locklear and C Chris Spencer would fill out the starters up front. When asked what he likes about the new combination of guards, Carroll said, "We get the experience of Chester back in there. He's played a lot of years -- that helps us some. Mike is still a young player for us -- he's done a nice job in the last couple weeks assimilating into a starting role. We like to see the movement that they bring too; both those guys bring good quickness. We'll see how it fits. We're going to try it out and see what it looks like."

Here is the injury report:

OUT -- None

QUESTIONABLE -- WR Brandon Stokley (hamstring), CB Walter Thurmond (hamstring), CB Roy Lewis (knee)

PROBABLE -- QB Matt Hasselbeck (wrist), WR Ben Obomanu (hand), DE Chris Clemons (ankle), C Chris Spencer (shoulder), WR Mike Williams (ankle), K Olindo Mare (hamstring)

Thurmond and Mare did not practice Friday. Lewis was limited, but the rest of the listed players practiced in full.

Listening to Carroll, the three guys listed as "questionable" are all at varying degrees. In short, he expects Stokley to play, Lewis to be a game-time call and was pessimistic to Thurmond's chances.

After the jump I've added Carroll's quotes on the injury front:

* * *

(On WRs Williams and Obomanu) "Mike and Ben made it through this week and we're looking forward to seeing those guys play. Ben will be all right and we'll make sure that Mike is OK on game day, but we think that both those guys will be listed as probable."

(On WR Stokley) "He looked good today. He would be listed as probable as well."

(On G Pitts) "Chester did well. He's fine. He's fully back. We did a good job of getting him back and not rushing him back before (he was ready), so he comes in really with no residual from this injury. He's ready to go."

(On CBs Lewis and Thurmond) "I don't know that yet. Roy, we'll run him on game day and see how he does. Walter is not that far along, so he's not going to make it.
