While the NFL lockout enters its third month, free agent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (above, left) directed a workout this morning at Washington's Dempsey indoor practice facility that included about 40 Seahawks and players from around the league.

Hasselbeck didn't speculate on his future with the team. He was one of several free agents on hand who may not return to Seattle.

Hasselbeck said Seahawks running back Justin Forsett organized the workouts.

"Forsett made some calls and said hey let's pick it up after Memorial Day," Hasselbeck said. "It's not just Seahawks. We got some other teams. It's a weird thing. It's weird times. We got to do what you can do to stay in shape."

The players stress conditioning during the workouts and everyone had to sign a waiver with the UW in the the event of an accident or injury.

"We try to simulate what we would be doing at this point during a normal season," Hasselbeck said. "Ivan Lewis the (UW) strength coach has helped write me a program that is similar to what our guys would be doing.

"That's the biggest thing. As professional athletes you're used to getting world-class coaching in the weight room, when you go in there by yourself you're kind of missing that. To have Ivan here has been a big help."

Several Seahawks were in attendance including quarterback Charlie Whitehurst and linebacker Aaron Curry.

The players have been working out four times a week for about the past two months.

Danny O'Neil was the first to learn about the workouts while on assignment in Vancouver, B.C.
