Seahawks place John Moffitt on IR

Posted by Danny O'Neil

The Seattle Seahawks placed guard John Moffitt on injured reserve, a move that was expected after coach Pete Carroll announced the rookie had suffered a season-ending knee injury that would require surgery.

The Seahawks signed Paul Fanaika to replace Moffitt on the 53-man roster. Fanaika was first acquired last year when he was claimed off the Cleveland Browns practice squad.

Fanaika was with the Seahawks in training camp, and signed to the practice squad the week before the regular season began. Seattle released him from the practice squad earlier this month.

Carroll indicated that Paul McQuistan and Lemuel Jeanpierre will be the top two candidates to take Moffitt's spot at right guard.
