Game in Review: Seahawks 31, Eagles 14

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Players of the game

Marshawn Lynch rushed for 148 yards, the most by any Seahawk player in five years. He scored twice in the first 16 minutes of the game, giving him eight consecutive starts with a touchdown.

Brandon Browner intercepted two passes in the game, the first time a Seahawk has intercepted two passes since Earl Thomas did it against San Diego in Week 3 vs. San Diego last year.

Play of the game

The Eagles know how New Orleans felt last January. More than half the Eagles defense got a hand on Lynch on his first-quarter touchdown run, but no one brought him down. Fullback Michael Robinson had a great block in the hole, and then left tackle Russell Okung scraped off a would-be tackler, freeing Lynch for the touchdown run.

Turning point

After running through Philadelphia's defense in the first quarter, Lynch ran around the Eagles in the second period. Tight end Zach Miller kept Trent Cole from setting the edge, and Lynch ran off tackle and to the end zone pretty much untouched. It was his third longest run from scrimmage in any game as a Seahawk, outdistanced only by his 67-yard touchdown run against New Orleans last season and his 47-yard run at New York earlier this season.

Seahawks surprises

sea-mark-1-rgb.jpg Tarvaris Jackson completed 13 of 16 passes he attempted in the game and finished with a quarterback rating of 137.

sea-mark-1-rgb.jpg Receiver Golden Tate, who did not score his rookie year, had his second touchdown in two games and third this season.

The Eagles - who averaged 420.1 yards of offense coming into the game - were held to 330.

sea-mark-1-rgb.jpg Seattle intercepted four passes, its most in any game since the Seahawks picked off five passes against Detroit on Nov. 8, 2009.

By the numbers

148 - yards rushing for Marshawn Lynch, 5 yards off his career high.

95.4 - yards LeSean McCoy averaged rushing entering the game.

84 - yards McCoy finished with.

5 -- consecutive games for Seattle with 100 yards rushing, the first time the Seahawks have done that since 2005.

Eagles S Colt Anderson suffered torn knee ligament; CB Nnamdi Asomugha (neck) left the game with a head and neck injury. Seahawks LT Russell Okung was coach Pete Carroll described as a significant injury to his right pectoral muscle.

Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons, "It showed we're growing up. We still have a young team. Coach has us pointed in the right direction. Hopefully, it's not too late for us, but as we continue to go and continue to grow, I think we'll get better as a team and learn how to finish games."

Gotta like the direction this team is taking, especially the defense. For the first time in years it feels like they are on the way up again  Posted on December 2, 2011 at 8:52 AM by Dave42. Jump to comment
