Seahawks add CB Phillip Adams

Posted by Danny O'Neil

RENTON -- Receiver Mike Williams underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his lower leg. He has been placed on injured reserve, and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Seahawks signed cornerback Phillip Adams to take his place on the 53-man roster. Adams was acquired in case Kennard Cox is limited this week. Cox is a cornerback who could not finish Sunday's game because of a sore hamstring.

Adams is in his second year in the NFL, coming out of South Carolina State.

Cox has been a special-teams mainstay for the Seahawks this season after filling a similar role last year. In fact, he was signed in Week 2 after Seattle gave up two special-teams returns for touchdowns at San Francisco in Week 1.

Tom, since Pete has already acquired virtually all the tall cornerbacks on the planet, he now has to settle for the average variety to cover kicks.  Posted on December 20, 2011 at 3:44 PM by roberto27. Jump to comment
Phil is a relative shrimp at 5-11 192 lbs, I guess Coach Carroll does not require jumbo players at all positions.  Posted on December 20, 2011 at 3:05 PM by tompage. Jump to comment
