Arizona's QB situation remains uncertain

RENTON -- Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt has Arizona's quarterback situation narrowed down.

Just not narrowed very much.

"Well, we know it's going to be one of three guys," Whisenhunt said.

Those would be the three guys on the roster, but the question of whether John Skelton or Kevin Kolb will start the regular-season finale really depends on Kolb's health after he missed the last two games because of a concussion.

Whisenhunt said the Cardinals are following the league protocol, which requires a player be symptom-free before he resumes practicing.

"Kevin has gotten to that point," Whisenhunt said, "but then you have to progress them in practice, and as you do that, if they get any symptoms, then you have to back it off."

That has also happened.

"He'll be good one day and he'll feel a little symptoms the next day," Whisenhunt said.

Which means his status is very much in doubt.

"We're working Kevin and we're working John," Whisenhunt said, "and we're trying to see if Kevin can be ready or not."

Skelton is 4-2 as a starter, and he has played well in the fourth quarter of close victories.

Will who's starting at quarterback affect the game plan for Arizona's offense on Sunday?

"At this point, it doesn't," Whisenhunt said. "I think John has had enough reps in games that you can put your plan in. There may be certain plays that he does better or that he's more comfortable with, but as far your overall plan, though, no it doesn't really change."
