Pete Carroll, Seahawks post-game reaction to 16-12 victory

Red Bryant on Brandon Browner forcing the fumble, and the play of defensive line including Bruce Irvin, Chris Clemons, Brandon Mebane and Alan Branch: "He (Browner) played the quarterback, the pitch, took the running back, stripped the ball out and then just recovered it. I can't even express how big of a play that was. That's just our defense, man. Every week somebody is stepping up. Clem and Bruce tore 'em up this week. Mebane, Branch tore 'em up last week in a loss. It's special. It's special what we're doing right now on defense. It's special. I'm glad to be a part of it."

Carroll on Carolina's fourth-and-goal play from the Seattle 1 with just under 4 minutes left: "We were expecting him (Cam Newton) to jump over the top. We thought he'd go over the top so everybody was ready and rearing to go. When he pulled out to throw the football it was like, 'Hallelujah. We have a chance.' "

Carroll on quarterback Russell Wilson: "I thought he played fantastic today. I thought he played a fantastic game. We missed the 56-yard frickin' bomb, you know, right off the bat. We get that one called back. He did everything well. He threw one ball on a back hip. Everything else was dead on the money all day long. Third-down effort was excellent. Execution was great. Sidney and the guys getting open was great, but he delivered and came through when all of the scrutiny and all of the attention and the focus was on that aspect of our game, and we dumped it on him all week long, and he came through. Again, he fixed something that we challenged him to fix. I thought he was big-time."

Free safety Earl Thomas: "It definitely shows a lot about our defense. Nobody points the fingers. We all had the same mentality. I always say when the defense is on one accord, we're communicating like we had tonight, even though it wasn't pretty we're going to win a lot of games."
