Seattleites react to the heat
Posted by Gabriel Campanario
With temperatures in the 100s on Wednesday and near triple digits today, my wife insisted via Twitter that I shouldn't go out to sketch: "Don't do it! Stay inside!! Draw your shoes!" she wrote. I normally follow everything she says, but not this time. In addition to drawing the PEMCO clock, here are some other drawings I did.

Construction workers Domonique, Tony and Mike were cooling off in a bench a block away from the construction site at 8th and Virginia where they work. Mike said they'd let me sketch as long as the drawing wouldn't appear in the comics section. Then everyone started laughing, picturing themselves as big-headed cartoon characters. I assured them that wouldn't happen and proceeded to draw and ask them about the heat. Tony explained that they were lucky to be working in the basement part of the mega-office building, where is cooler. But none of them were pleased with the unusual temperature. "It makes me sleepy," Domonique said.
