Seattle University men use defense for first victory in the WAC

ARLINGTON, Texas — Seattle University used defense to score its first Western Athletic Conference men's basketball victory, topping Texas-Arlington 61-44 Thursday.

The Redhawks (6-10, 1-5 WAC) held the Mavericks (8-7, 3-3) to 25.8 percent shooting. For a 7 ½-minute stretch in the first half, Seattle U held UTA without a field goal during a 21-4 run.

Chad Rasmussen scored 13 points, including three three-pointers, to lead Seattle. Prince Obasi added 12 points. Seattle shot 57 percent from the floor and was 10 of 23 from three-point range.
