Seattle U women fall just short on the road
Seattle University missed three shots in the final 10 seconds to take the lead, but came up empty on each occasion in an 80-78 loss to Cal State Bakersfield in a Western Athletic Conference women’s game Thursday night.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Seattle University missed three shots in the final 10 seconds with a chance to take the lead, but came up empty on each occasion in an 80-78 loss to Cal State Bakersfield in a Western Athletic Conference women’s game Thursday night.
With the Redhawks down 79-78, Kacie Sowell missed a pair of jumpers, then Ashley Ward missed from close range.
Bakersfield finally got the rebound and made a free throw with one second left to conclude the scoring.
Taelor Ross scored 22 to lead Seattle U (8-10, 3-2 WAC), Sowell scored 21 and Ward added 16 points.
Tyonna Outland scored 33 points for the Roadrunners (8-7, 2-1).
Perhaps the biggest stat was Seattle University going 0 for 11 from three-point range.
