BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Issiah Grayson scored 22 points to lead Cal State Bakersfield to an 83-65 win over Seattle in a Western Athletic Conference game Saturday night.

Trailing 47-33, Seattle used an 8-0 run to pull six points behind with fewer than 13 minutes remaining.

Aly Ahmed’s layup about 3½ minutes later sparked a 14-2 spurt by CSUB (11-14, 4-7 WAC), pushing the Roadrunners’ lead to 66-48, and Seattle never threatened again.

The loss was the worst in WAC play this season for the Redhawks, who also lost by 18 (86-68) at Mountain West Boise State on Nov. 19.

The Redhawks (12-12, 4-7) were coming off a 71-57 victory over first-place Utah Valley on Thursday night in Orem, Utah.

Isiah Umipig led Seattle U with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. Emerson Murray scored 10 points. Shore Adenekan contributed nine points and four blocked shots.

Ahmed finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. Javonte Maynor and Brandon Barnes scored 11 apiece for Bakersfield, which shot 52 percent overall, including 6 of 9 from three-point range. The Roadrunners were 21 of 29 from the free-throw line.

Although the Roadrunners lost the rebounding battle, 40-32, they took care of the ball, committing only eight turnovers.

Seattle shot just 35.9 percent (23 of 64) from the field, going 9 of 34 from three-point range, and committed 18 turnovers that led to 18 Bakersfield points.

Seattle U returns to KeyArena for a three-game homestand, starting Thursday at 7 p.m. against Grand Canyon.
