Sonics draft center from France with first-round pick

The Sonics selected Johan Petro, a 19-year-old, 7-foot center from France with their first-round pick, No. 25 overall, in the NBA Draft today.

The Sonics selected Johan Petro, a 19-year-old, 7-foot center from France with their first-round pick, No. 25 overall, in the NBA Draft today.

Petro played last season for Pau Orthez in France's top professional league. He averaged 6.1 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13 minutes a game last season.

Last year, the Sonics drafted a high school center, Robert Swift of Bakersfield, Calif.
