OAKLAND, Calif. -- Mariners first baseman Richie Sexson returned to Seattle this afternoon to be with his wife Kerry, who gave birth to twins today in an emergency C-section procedure.
Sexson told the Mariners his wife gave birth to a boy and a girl. They have another 15-month-old son.
Sexson must miss at least three games, but Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi said he is hopeful Sexson can rejoin the team for its series against the Angels this week in Anaheim, Calif.
Mike Morse was recalled from Class AAA Tacoma to take Sexson's place on the roster. Ben Broussard will start at first base tonight for the Mariners and bat seventh.
