Macy Keen, a 6-foot-5 center, will transfer from Miami to the Washington women’s basketball team.

Keen will sit out the 2013-14 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

“Macy is an obvious fit for our team and will be a unique player in the Pac-12,” said new UW coach Mike Neighbors. “I have a lot of experience working with transfer students from my days at Xavier.”

Keen also considered Baylor, Florida State, South Florida and Tulsa out of high school, before deciding on Miami where she played her freshman season. She averaged 1.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 12 contests for the Hurricanes, who advanced to the NCAA tournament.

Keen will join a revamped inside game for the Huskies with Katie Collier returning from injury and incoming freshman Chantel Osahor.

• UW freshman Chris Williams is the 2013 Men’s Track & Field Freshman/Newcomer of the Year. The award is based on a vote of the Pac-12 head coaches. Williams is the first Husky male to win a Pac-12 postseason honor of any kind since Ja’Warren Hooker in 2000. Williams competed in the 110-meter hurdles and pole vault.

• At Juniper Golf Club in Redmond, Ore., Hans Reimiers of Columbia Edgewater won the Oregon Open Invitational Thursday by one stroke over Darren Black of Seattle’s Rainier Club. Winning the Four-Ball competition was Joe Korn of Nile Golf Course in Mountlake Terrace and his amateur Matt Huft of Foster Golf Links in Tukwila.
