Poor shooting sinks WSU in loss to Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. — After starting the Pac-12 season 5-0, the Washington State women’s basketball team suffered its second consecutive defeat, losing 82-66 on Friday night to Oregon, which got its first conference victory of the season.
The Cougars can blame this defeat on poor shooting as they were just 21 of 72 from the field (29 percent). They made just 11 of 44 two-point shots (25 percent).
Oregon (10-8, 1-6 Pac-12) took a 33-28 halftime lead.
Washington State (11-8, 5-2) tied the score at 35 with 16:41 remaining in the game, but Oregon responded with a 10-0 run to take control.
The Cougars never got closer than five points after that.
Lisa Galdeira led the Cougars with 16 points but she was just 5 of 17 from the field.
Fellow Cougar guard Tia Presley scored 14 points on 2-of-13 shooting, but she was 10 of 12 from the foul line.
Crishae Rowe scored 24 points to lead Oregon and Jillian Alleyne had 21 points and 19 rebounds. Danielle Love had 14 rebounds for the Ducks, who out-rebounded Washington State 59-35.
Love also had five steals for Oregon, which overcame 25 turnovers. Washington State had 18 turnovers.
