Edward Kim, Eastlake boys swimming

In a fitting end to his illustrious prep career, Kim claimed the 4A state titles in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events. That made him only the second boy in state history to sweep eight individual championships over four years. “What sets Edward apart is his humility, his dedication to his teammates and his focus and hard work in the classroom,” Eastlake coach Kate Agnew said. Kim, who is headed to Harvard, has a 3.96 GPA.

KC Moulden, Enumclaw girls wrestling

In a state tournament where there were several impressive performances, the junior 235-pound champ stood alone. Moulden (25-1) was the only girl to post four first-round pins en route to a title, which she also won last year. She pinned one opponent in 17 seconds. “She had a dominating weekend,” coach Jerry Scheidt said. “Her success was a result of her great attitude, leadership and effort all season.”

Newport boys swimming

They didn’t win an individual event, but coach Eric Bartleson’s crew used depth to capture the team title in the Class 4A state meet for the first time in school history, topping Issaquah 215.5-171.
