Free training and neutering for pit bulls
Posted by Judy Averill
The Responsi-Bull Project is offering a helping paw to owners of pit bulls with free spay and neuter clinics, ownership workshops and obedience-training classes.
The clinics and obedience training in Pierce and Kitsap counties are open to low-income owners.
Spay and neuter clinics
Starting on June 1, low-income owners of pit bulls can send an email to email@example.com to make an appointment for the free spay and neuter clinic. Mention ''Responsi-Bull Project'' and include your dog's photo to receive the discount at Coalition: HUMAnE Spay & Neuter Clinic in Tacoma. The offer is for a limited time.
Kitsap County residents can check Kitsap Humane Society for information about how to get their pit bull fixed at no cost. This program also is being offered for a limited time.
Learn how to be a responsible pit bull owner and how to help others understand the breed by attending a free ownership workshop.
BullsEye Dog Rescue will host a workshop on Sunday, June 5, at Play Bow Dog Training in Tacoma. Registration is required. Space is limited.
The Kitsap Humane Society is slated to host a workshop in October. Details are on its website.
A five-week basic obedience class for pit bulls is being offered for free for those who complete the course. (There's a registration fee but that's returned at the end.) Classes in Tacoma require the workshop on Sunday, June 5, and then start on Saturday, June 11.
Starting at the end of October, the Kitsap Humane Society will offer training classes. For details, see www.kitsap-humane.org/responsi-bull-project.
