June kicks off with pet events for reptiles, horses, dogs and cats
Get an up close look at lizards, snakes and other creatures at a reptile expo this weekend. Or, if that's not your idea of fun, watch dogs make a splash in the DockDogs events at Mutt March. There's also a pet health fair and an adoption event on Sunday.
Emerald City Reptile Expo: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. Displays of reptiles, amphibians and insects, plus an education, conservation and resource fair, vendors and speakers. $10 at the door. Kids under 12 free. http://www.emeraldcityreptileexpo.com/
Mutt March: 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. today and 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday, McCollum Park, South Snohomish County. The 5K march was this morning but you can still catch some of the other activities such as the Puget Sound DockDogs Spring Training Clinic (today), Northwest DockDogs Club Challenge (Sunday), flying disc dogs (today). Woodinville Wags & Whiskers Adoption Event: Noon-3 p.m. Sunday, PetsMart, 17845 Garden Way N.E., Woodinville. Dogs and cats (young and adult) from 11 shelters and rescue groups will be available for adoption. The animals have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Health Fair and Pet Fest: 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, 11308 92nd St. S.E., Snohomish. The free event offers information on wellness and preventive care for horses, dogs and cats. Activities and exhibits include a petting zoo, dog agility courses, animal health screenings and demonstrations of equine and small animal dental care, pet treadmill, acupuncture, chiropractic procedures. There also will be booths for pet adoptions, animal welfare groups, dog trainers, equine organizations and police canine units. www.pilchuckvet.com
