The memory of criminal matriarch Mags Bennett (Emmy-winner Margo Martindale) has been a powerful thread through the third season of this excellent series (based on the works of Elmore Leonard). In her absence, the creators have filled Harlan County with all sorts of criminals, including the mysterious Ellstin Limehouse (Mykelti Williamson) and that bad penny, Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins). Nothing that came before could prepare us for this season's "big bad," though, the charming, unstoppable and downright evil "carpetbagger" Robert Quarles (Neal McDonough). Hold on tight, I feel a standoff coming between Quarles and U.S. Marshal Givens (Timothy Olyphant) in tonight's season finale. 10 p.m. Tuesday on FX (
