Wednesday TV Picks: 'The Neighbors' on ABC
TV picks for Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, include "The Neighbors" on ABC; "Criminal Minds" on CBS; and "Chicago Fire" on NBC.
Tonight in Prime Time
Another ABC comedy that seems to have found the right balance of funny and goofy. It follows the Weaver family as they get to know their new neighbors in the gated community of Hidden Hills. At first they think they're odd. No, strange. Very Strange. It turns out they are aliens from the planet Zabvron and are stranded on Earth awaiting instructions from home. They have also taken the names of famous sports figures (Larry Bird, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Dick Butkus). It's a great twist on the typical neighborhood sitcom, and half the fun is watching the Weavers (Lenny Venito and Jami Gertz) react and cope with the Zabvronians' rituals and culture. 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on ABC (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).
