July 29 TV Picks: ‘Matador’ on El Rey
TV picks for Tuesday, July 29, 2014, include “Matador” on El Rey, “Tyrant” on FX and “Finding Carter” on MTV.
Tonight in Prime Time
“Where fans, aficionados and rebels come for their fix of bullets, blood and babes.” That’s the description of the new El Rey network and this new series — from executive producer Robert Rodriguez (“From Dusk Till Dawn” and “Sin City”) — fits that bill. It tells the story of DEA agent Tony Bravo (Gabriel Luna) who is recruited to go undercover as a player on the LA Riot soccer team. It’s a pretty mixed affair — half sports drama, half spy thriller — but features a fun performance from Alfred Molina as the owner of the team. 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, on El Rey (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).
