News-Times: Man dies after jump from Deception Pass Bridge

Posted by John de Leon

The body of a 32-year-old man was recovered from the water Tuesday after he jumped from the Deception Pass Bridge, according to the Whidbey News-Times.

The death is being investigated as a suicide, Island County Coroner Robert Bishop tells the News-Times.

Police found evidence in the man's car, which was parked near the bridge, that indicates the man intentionally killed himself. The man was in the Navy and lived in Oak Harbor, according to the News-Times.

No one saw the man jump, but at least four people reported hearing the body hit the water around 12:30 p.m.

Earlier this month, a 32-year-old Snohomish man committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope from the bridge.
