SPD looking for 2 men who assaulted female officer

Posted by Nick Provenza

Seattle police are looking for two men who assaulted a female police officer on Capitol Hill Friday night near the police department's East Precinct at 12th Avenue and Pine Street.

The officer, who was not in uniform and in her own car, had just gotten off duty and was pulling out of the precinct parking lot when she found two men in a 1995 Lexus GS 4-door sedan blocking the exit gate, according to a police news release.

The Lexus eventually moved forward into a parking spot and the officer started pulling out to the street. That's when the Lexus began moving toward the officer's vehicle and the officer had to hit her brakes to avoid a collision, according to police.

The officer and the passenger in the Lexus got out of their cars and got into an argument. The officer said she was a cop and used her cell phone to call for backup. It's then that the passenger took a swing at her, hitting her in the face and the hand holding the cell phone, police said.

The passenger got back into the Lexus and it sped off, according to police. The officer got back into her vehicle and chased them for a few blocks, but stopped.

The officer, 42. has been with the Seattle Police Department for 13 years. She was not injured. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police.
