Seattle police arrest predator after online sting operation

Posted by John de Leon

An online sting operation resulted in the arrest of a 47-year-old man after he sent emails indicating he wanted to have sex with a 15-year-old girl, according to Seattle police. The "girl" the man propositioned turned out to be an undercover cop.

Police launched an investigation into the man on Dec. 2 after learning he had posted an online advertisement seeking a young girl. A detective, posing as a child, responded to the suspect's posting and during several emails the man indicated he wanted to have sex with a 15-year-old girl, police said.

On Saturday, the man agreed to meet the "girl" at a predetermined location in downtown Seattle. Once the man arrived at the site he was arrested by police. The man was booked into King County Jail for investigation of commercial sex abuse of a minor and investigation of attempted rape of a child.
