Posing as city workers, thieves steal jewelry from home

Posted by Olivia Bobrowsky

Two men posing as city workers to get inside two South Seattle homes on Tuesday, managed to steal jewelry from one of them.

While one suspect distracted the residents, the other looked around, Seattle police spokesman Mark Jamieson said. The thieves walked away with jewelry from the one home, but nothing appeared to be stolen from the other.

“They basically talked their way into the home,” Jamieson said.

One incident occurred in the 4300 block of South Snoqualmie Street and the other in the 2700 block of 18th Avenue South.

“We would like to take this time to just remind folks that if somebody comes to your door and you don’t know them and they’re demanding access into your home, don’t let them in. And if you have any doubt you can call 911.”
