When Seattle police unleashed a tweet-a-thon on Tuesday to promote next Tuesday’s Night Out Against Crime, it sent out details on 478 police responses in the 12-hour event.
Of those, 142 were crimes against persons and 336 property crimes, traffic complaints and other activity.
“While we realize the numbers may seem like quite a lot for our city, it really was just an ordinary day for the men and women of the Seattle Police Department,” police said in a statement.
Police also said that total violent crimes through June 2011, compared to June 2010, were down by 1 percent. Property crimes were down by 12 percent.
Total major crimes, violent and property crimes, are down 11 percent from the previous year, police said.
