Motorcyclist killed in Marysville-area collision

Posted by Janet Horne

A 62-year-old Marysville-area man was pronounced dead at the scene of a traffic collision on Saturday afternoon, according to the Snohomish County sheriff's office.

At around 3:40 p.m., the man was driving a motorcycle northbound on 67th Avenue Northeast, a two-lane country road. He moved into the southbound lane to pass another vehicle but as he moved back into the northbound lane his motorcycle rear-ended a car that had stopped to make a left-hand turn onto 152nd Street Northeast.

Excessive speed appeared to contribute to the collision, in the Marysville area of unincorporated Snohomish County, the sheriff's office said. The driver of the car that was rear-ended did not need to be taken to a hospital, police said.
